The Royal Highland Show first ran in 1822 in Canongate in Edinburgh, but since 1960 it has permanently been held at the Ingliston Showground. The show had to be cancelled in 2001 due to the outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease making the 2013 show the 173rd show Highland Show in total and 53rd since its move to the permanent site at Ingliston, just across from Edinburgh International Airport.

So what's on offer..? The 40 hectare showground features almost everything to do with the countryside and rural pursuits. The show features masterclasses every day on anything from cooking to falconry. The food hall is one of the biggest in the country showcasing all of Scotland's delicacies.
