Follow on Google News | Punching Holes In A 100 Year Old IndustryHow a mother and daughter team are reinventing the ball cap.
There are some things that just go together, NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Jr., butter and popcorn, black shoes with a black dress, and chocolate on a bad day. Yet most people wouldn’t think of a mother and daughter and baseball caps. However, deep from the heart of Texas, amidst fortune 500 companies and tech start-ups, a company has emerged with ties to the very roots of American entrepreneurism. For nearly 100 years the baseball cap has remained relatively unchanged, and with the exception of a pink cap or two, very little in terms of the baseball cap has been created to address the growing demand for women’s sporting apparel. Girls and Giggles Founders, Linnie Warnick and Andrea Smith have created the very thing women have been waiting for, The GG Cap. The GG Cap is a fitted baseball cap made by women for women. It is available with either one or two elasticized ponytail holes for the woman’s hair. This allows women to enjoy the tailored feel of a fitted baseball cap while giving them a comfortable and stylish way to wear their hair. Check us out on Kickstarter and claim your GG Cap http://www.kickstarter.com/ In order to accomplish their goal of mass-producing the hats, Girls and Giggles has launched a crowd-funding campaign on the popular site, Kickstarter.com. Kickstarter is a website that allows small businesses to raise money needed to produce new products through contributions from people like you, in exchange for awesome rewards. The inspiration for the idea came as Andrea Smith, Co-Founder and CEO, would put caps on her daughter. “She was so cute in her caps, but I always thought it would be great if there was a place to let her hair out and make little ponytails.” So Andrea began cutting holes in the top of the hats, and pulling the hair through to make little ponytails. “At first, this was just something I thought was cute, but the hats started getting so much attention, and people kept on asking me where they could get one.” Andrea decided to approach her mother and asked if there was a fun, and cute way to finish the ponytail holes. “We came up with multiple designs that we really liked,” says Linnie Warnick, Co-Founder of Girls and Giggles and creator of the first finished GG Cap. “But the most impressive part was the creation of the unique elasticized hole in the cap.” This elasticized hole acts as the ponytail holder, and is the key to the patent pending design of the GG Cap. For nearly two decades, women have been spending more than men in sporting apparel and equipment. While almost all categories of apparel have adapted their products to accommodate the needs of women, women’s sporting headwear has remained largely unchanged and as a result, this growing market segment has not tapped into. “This is a no-brainer,” Girls and Giggles on Kickstarter http://www.kickstarter.com/ Product Video http://youtu.be/ About Girls and Giggles Linnie Warnick and her daughter Andrea Smith founded Girls and Giggles, with one purpose in mind, to continually remind women of all ages how much fun it is to be a girl! Now that they have added sister/daughter Adrienne Lewis to their team they are unstoppable! End
