The IDentity Kit Project Takes on Religion at Church of the Holy Trinity

PHILADELPHIA - May 21, 2013 - PRLog -- PHILADELPHIA, PA - The IDentity Kit Project invites you to an evening of getting to know the team behind the project influencing conversations about gender identity, sexual orientation, religion and spirituality at The Church of the Holy Trinity (CHT) on Rittenhouse Square. Located at 1904 Walnut Street, the special donor event will take place Thursday, May 30th at 5:30-7:30 p.m. with a light reception of wine and hors d'oeuvres and a musical performance by Executive Director and founder, Crystal Cheatham (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/crystal-cheatham/room-for-a-christian-lesb_b_2630756.html).

Nationally distributing affirming LGBTQ/faith materials and workshops, The IDK Project provides teens and educators with a toolkit (http://youridk.com/order/) and guidance to navigate their sexuality and spirituality. In the past year, The IDentity Kit Project has hosted workshops with The Attic Youth Center, with teachings including thoughtful explanations of the LGBTQ lexicon and its usage in sparking discussions about faith, anti-racism, sexism, ableism, and other socio-economical issues that often inhibit a young adult’s ability to view their personal identity as positive. Cheatham also released a book, IDentity Kit: For Queer Christian Youth, to further help educate LGBTQ youth and young adults in religious atmospheres.
