Follow on Google News | Ensley Is On The Move With Arts Education:Kuumba Community Arts Center Fosters Creativity In Birmingham Neighborhoods
The inaugural class started on April 2, 2013, and will culminate with an exhibition that features the work of young African-American males ages 8-13. The exhibition will be held at the Ensley Recreation Center on May 30, 2013 at 5pm. The public is invited. Other classes in the visual, performing and literary arts will be added to course offerings in the future. This is important because having access to arts education helps “develop the sense that they [children] can be agents of their own learning and that they can make a positive change in their own lives and their surroundings” About Kuumba Community Art Kuumba Community Art, founded by Deidre Clark, is a program that is dedicated to bringing arts education to the Ensley Community. Kuumba means ‘creativity’ To learn more about Kuumba or the exhibition, please contact Deidre Clark at 205-602-7255 or by emailing at kuumbacommunityart@ End
