COLUMBUS, Ohio - May 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Columbus, Ohio – Busy schedules, travel expenses and just plain distance can sometimes keep families from celebrating the holidays in their own hometowns. Now, thanks to a brand new cookbook from Gooseberry Patch, anyone can re-create the hometown flavors they remember in their own kitchens!

Hometown Christmas is a collection of homestyle recipes gathered from everyday cooks from all over the US, Canada and beyond. Afterward, they'll snuggle up by the fire with steamy bowls of Christmas Vegetable Soup paired with thick slices of Herby Onion Batter Bread. Recipes like Braised Beef Ribs and Horseradish Mashed Potatoes will bring back warm memories of dinners all together, around the table. As the big day draws closer, they'll love baking cookies together and creating new memories of their own...dozens of Santa's favorites are included!

Even if cooks are perfectly happy celebrating at home, these hearty recipes will be a welcome addition to holiday or year 'round celebrations, while collectors will want to add this highly anticipated title to their Gooseberry Patch bookshelf.

About Gooseberry Patch

Back in 1984, Vickie Hutchins and Jo Ann Martin were next-door neighbors raising their families in Delaware, Ohio. They were two moms with small children looking for a way to do what they loved and stay home with the kids too. They shared a love of home cooking and making memories with family & friends. After many a conversation over the backyard fence, Gooseberry Patch was born.

Today, Gooseberry Patch is best known for its homestyle family-friendly cookbooks and line of art calendars. Affordably priced from 99 cents to $16.95, the books are themed with today's time-strapped, budget-conscious families in mind. Many recipes include personal stories from contributors, giving the cookbooks a warm community feel that has proven extremely popular among cookbook fans and collectors.
