Follow on Google News | San Francisco Book Fest 2013 Honors Washington State Children’s AuthorThe San Francisco Book Fest 'Favorites' have honored Pacific Northwest Author, Kizzie Jones, with an Honorable Mention in the Children's Category for her title, "How Dachshunds Came to Be". Ms. Jones will be at the Book Fest to accept her award.
What has become a very popular west coast title this season was inspired by Ms. Jones during a holiday at the seashore several years ago. How Dachshunds Came To Be: A Tall Tale About a Short Long Dog', was released October 2012, drawing hundreds to its highly anticipated book launch, held in Edmonds Washington. While in San Francisco to accept her honor, Kizzie Jones, will also take part in the Book Fest panel, “Children’ Illustrated by Scott Ward, ‘How Dachshunds Came to Be” is intended to foster “The values of honoring community and diversity, and working in collaboration” “The 30-page book-delight reached Top Twenty ranking in Amazon’s eBook market by Day Two of its release. Harrison Publishing, describes the process used, “For ‘How Dachshunds Came To Be: A Tall Tale About A Short Long Dog’: “The designer, Ms. Humphries, layered the story-line written by the author onto the breathtaking illustrations of Scott Ward, adding creative and colorful font designs to advance the storyline.” “The result was a seamless panorama of sparkling color, dancing fonts, with a read-again story line,” continues the publisher. “And, it’s the perfect size for a child’s hands. We designed the book at 8.5” x 8.5” and were delighted when we previewed the galley proofs,” said Emily Hill.
