May is "Better Hearing and Speech Month" and the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center recently celebrated by hosting a Champions for Speech & Hearing Spring Giving Luncheon on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at St. John’s Cathedral. The Center raised over $20,000 in funds, doubling its goal, with matching support provided by the Lucy Gooding Charitable Foundation Trust. Funds received will be used to benefit underserved children and families in need of speech and hearing services in Jacksonville. Incepture led as Presenting Sponsor for the giving luncheon, which had an important role in increasing awareness and raising funds to support the critical work of the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center. The Junior League of Jacksonville was honored for its role in the founding of the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center in 1949, in addition to the volunteer support and resources provided through the years. Wells Fargo was also recognized as a community corporate partner of the Center, through its support of the work being done for communities on the First Coast. Guests enjoyed moving testimonials from those impacted by the Center as well as updates on the latest developments at JSHC. Angela Spears served as emcee and presented a proclamation through the Mayor’s Office in support of Better Hearing and Speech month, which is nationally recognized in May. For the past 64 years, the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center has provided professional, compassionate audiology and speech/language services children and adults in our community. The Center continues to provide these services to approximately 4,000 individuals annually. The Center is supported by United Way of Northeast Florida, the City of Jacksonville, Jessie Ball duPont Fund, and public and private donations. End
