Minnesota Twins Honored For Lee County Community Contributions

The team has been recognized with a 2013 Chrysalis Award, for positive impact on tourism, from the Lee County VCB and the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce.
 
FORT MYERS, Fla. - May 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Lee County, FL - The Minnesota Twins have been recognized for their positive impact on the local community in Southwest Florida with a 2013 Lee County Tourism Chrysalis Award.

The Minnesota Twins Baseball Club (http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=min) has made a concerted effort to positively affect the Southwest Florida community since the team's 1991 arrival in Lee County for spring training (http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/spring_training/home.jsp?c_id=min) operations. Play Deep Marketing & Media works with the team to create and manage community partnerships with area businesses, schools and other local organizations to promote the area as a destination. In addition, the Twins organization, its players and employees provide resources, memorabilia, volunteer hours and cash grants to assist nonprofit organizations and fundraisers each year in Lee County and surrounding areas.

As part of National Travel and Tourism week, the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) and the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce hosted the 4th Annual Celebration of Business & Tourism Chrysalis Awards Luncheon and Trade Show on May 16. The event is also part of the VCB’s year-round Team Tourism program, which recognizes the value of tourism and the community teamwork involved in maintaining and enhancing tourism as a major economic engine for the county.

The Chrysalis Awards signify the development of a partnership between the business and tourism communities. The partnership is designed to encourage working together to help the business community add to its awareness of the tourism industry, and help tourism partners to better understand the needs of non-hospitality businesses. The collaboration creates stronger resources for the good of our diverse communities and destination. More than 60 nominees were judged within their respective categories. Winners were chosen based on how they distinguished themselves in the community, along with their efforts to promote the destination, contributions to business and tourism partnerships for the county and work to foster growth and sustainability.
