BIRMINGHAM, U.K. - May 16, 2013 - PRLog -- LinuxIT announced today that its Open Architectures Readiness assessment (OARA) has been made available on HMG’s G-Cloud III framework for use by public sector bodies.

Peter Dawes-Huish, CEO & Chairman at LinuxIT said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by HMG to be a supplier and join the community on the G-Cloud framework. LinuxIT looks forward to working with a wide range of public sector bodies investigating the feasibility and impact of moving towards more open architectures and open standards”.

In 2012 Francis Maud’s team announced government policy for every IT project, that organisations should consider the use of Open Architectures and realise the benefit of reduced cost and better service to the citizen.

Through consultation with the Cabinet Office and Local Government, LinuxIT’s OARA has been specifically designed to help organisations measure themselves against this policy and identify areas where open architectures can provide the tangible gains and cost savings identified by this Cabinet Office policy.

He added: “We are already working with customers in the public sector helping them take advantage of reduced TCO, vendor lock-in issues or simply to demonstrate that they have performed their due diligence regarding the policy.”
