WASHINGTON - May 15, 2013 - PRLog -- (MWA-Net) – Muslimah Writers Alliance (MWA) is pleased to celebrate new author, MWA member Asma Zaman on the publication of her first children's book, "Grandpa and Grandma Come to Stay".

Illustrated by Azra Momin and published by Creative Education and Publishing (CEP) of Falls Church, Virginia, "Grandpa and Grandma Come to Stay" gently guides young readers through the story of twins, Muhammed and Musa, who come to understand how and why it is that elder family members might need extra special care when grandpa and grandma welcomed for a visit to their family home.

"Asma is just one of a growing number of MWA member authors joining the Creative Education and Publishing family. We congratulate Asma on this achievement and share in her joy," stated MWA director, Aishah Schwartz. "Through interactive competitions and publications, utilizing stories, posters, activity books, educational cards and games, designed to make learning fun, CEP publications provide faith and identity strengthening educational support designed to help Muslim children integrate into and contribute to the societies in which they live, in addition to serving as a resource in broadening the understanding of Islamic teachings for those who may otherwise not be aware."

"I am very proud of my authors. They address issues facing children the world over; north to south, east to west. We need to keep our family ties stronger. In particular the extended family. This is what differentiates us from many societies - family and social ties," stated CEP founder and President Alameddine Kaddoura.

Ms. Zaman, an MWA member since March 2007, is a London based law graduate currently pursuing theoretical and practical qualifications as a psychological counsellor/psychotherapist also striving to bring awareness to the issues of mental health and disabilities in developing countries. She was invited to work as a project director and human rights campaign coordinator for the NGO 'Muslim Parliament of Great Britain' where she produced a national report on 'Child Abuse in Religious Environments'.

Through rigorous campaigning Ms. Zaman played a pivotal role in the release of an innocent British citizen on death row in Pakistan in addition to supporting other high-impact projects.

Her aspirations of becoming a writer began at a very young age, but it was only after being diagnosed with a long-term illness did they start to become reality. Asma now strives to raise awareness in support of not only others suffering from Myalgic-Encephalomilitis (M.E.) and Fibromyalgia, but for their caregivers as well.

When asked in a recent interview by MWA member Saba N. Taylor, what inspired her to write Grandpa and Grandma Come to Stay, Ms. Zaman stated, "Having been born and brought up in the west but from an Asian background, the importance of helping your elders and showing them utmost respect and love was always instilled in me from a young age.  The same values are now being instilled in my nieces and nephews so I really wanted to share these values to forthcoming generations.  And seeing the wonderful relationship my parents have with their grandchildren made me want to dedicate this story to them."

Ms. Zaman is currently busy finalizing her first collection of Urdu poetry and working on a set of novellas for adults, in addition to continuing her story-writing for young children.
