RICHARDSON, Texas - May 15, 2013 - PRLog -- The University of Texas at Dallas broke ground on the Naveen Jindal School of Management addition in Richardson, Texas. SHW Group, one of the nation’s leading educational architecture and engineering firms, designed the 110,000-square-foot addition; The Beck Group, a worldwide, integrated architecture, construction, technology and professional services firm, is the general contractor for the project.    “Great care was taken to design an advanced academic environment that will truly enhance UTD’s landmark School of Management program and will align with the university’s overall strategic plan,” said Don Hensley, higher education practice director at SHW Group. “The addition will provide added space for a range of activities and blend cohesively with the existing facility.”     The $25 million addition will include cutting-edge academic classrooms, faculty offices, executive education seminar rooms, distance learning studios, research centers and an undergraduate honors program area. Additional space will be provided for career placement, student advising, technical support, trading labs, economics research labs, sales lab and computer labs. Formal and informal learning spaces and a café area will be incorporated throughout the facility to support current educational trends and promote student collaboration.    “The Beck Group is honored to play a part in the growth of the Jindal School of Management,” said Fred Perpall, CEO of The Beck Group. “As we celebrate the groundbreaking for this critically important new addition, we recognize the many individuals whose leadership and vision have made this day possible.”    To allow for the program’s future growth, a portion of the total facility will be built out, while the remaining area will be left as shelled space.    With construction underway, completion is slated for fall 2014. The project is designed to meet LEED certification standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council.     About SHW Group    SHW Group is one of the nation's leading architecture, engineering and planning firms dedicated to the design of learning environments.  Founded in 1945, SHW Group's experience includes more than 4,000 projects nationally and internationally.
