Kentucky Monthly Seeks Submissions for 6th Annual Literary Showcase

FRANKFORT, Ky. - May 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Kentucky Monthly magazine is now accepting submissions for its 6th annual writers’ showcase. Chosen stories and poems will be published in the magazine’s November issue.  Nearly 40 original works of poetry, creative nonfiction and fiction have been highlighted in the five years the company has presented its annual literary section.

“We receive hundreds of submissions each year and continue to be impressed by the quality of the work we receive,” said Stephen M. Vest, owner and publisher of Vested Interest Publications, Kentucky Monthly’s parent company. “It’s an honor to be able to celebrate these authors, many of whom have never been published, and share with our readers the rich, distinctive narratives of Kentucky writers.”

Only submissions from Kentucky writers, including current and previous residents, or works that use Kentucky as a subject matter will be considered for publication. In celebration of the magazine’s 15th anniversary, 15-word stories and poems will be given special consideration.

Submissions should be submitted via the magazine’s online form (http://www.kentuckymonthly.com/magazine/news-contests/lit...) by August 5. Fiction and nonfiction stories should be fewer than 2,013 words, typed and double-spaced.  Poetry submissions should also be typed, but may be single-spaced. Submissions exceeding 2,013 words will not be reviewed.  Each writer may submit one fiction story, one nonfiction piece and/or three poems free of charge; submission fees are incurred for additional and non-electronic submissions.
