UHY Advisors Southeast Adds Sam Aziz as Manager

ATLANTA - May 14, 2013 - PRLog -- UHY Advisors Southeast today announced the appointment of Sam Aziz as Manager. Aziz will serve UHY Advisors clients nationwide and brings to the firm extensive control assessment and information security experience from his roles in public accounting, internal audit and information systems. Aziz reports to UHY Advisors’ Principal David Barton, who leads the firm’s Enterprise Risk Advisory Services practice in the southeast.

Aziz is highly skilled in reviews and audits of entity-wide controls, key financial processes, information technology general controls, cloud computing and end-user computing.

Over the course of his career, Aziz has:

·  Conducted SSAE 16/SAS 70 attestations, involving testing and assessing general and application controls, identifying control deficiencies, and proposing recommendations for control improvements.

·  Conducted information systems audits and risk assessments to support business audit teams.  

·  Managed the development and implementation of global security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security. His information protection responsibilities have included network security architecture, network access and monitoring policies, and employee education and awareness.

·  Consulted on development of business and systems internal controls, policies, and procedures in preparation for Sarbanes-Oxley 404 audits and SSAE 16/SAS 70 attestations.

·  Performed project management activities including developing compliance program protocols and methodologies, gathering and analyzing data, assessing risk, tracking and managing progress, and executing decision-making rationale in support of the compliance program.  

·  Developed an audit charter and work plans for a $1 billion Michigan-based diversified IT SAAS provider, including the preparation and implementation of a SSAE 16 readiness assessment.

·  Conducted and led internal audits of business processes of an IT SAAS company, which included developing and executing audit plans, identifying control deficiencies, and recommending and tracking remedial actions.

Prior to joining UHY, Aziz was an internal audit manager with an automotive supplier. He has served in information technology audit and systems roles with major healthcare, automotive, and distribution companies.  

Aziz earned his Master of Science in Information Systems from Eastern Michigan University and his Master of Business Administration from South Eastern University.
