Louisiana Tech Students Support the troops with 100 Heroboxes

RUSTON, La. - May 13, 2013 - PRLog -- Tyrone, GA—A group of students at Louisiana Tech showed their support for our troops by organizing a Heroday where they  packed and shipped 100 customized care packages, called Heroboxes, to a deployed unit of American soldiers. Ryan Kavanaugh, a member of the Louisiana Tech organization called Tech For Troops, coordinated with the Herobox staff to

plan the event. They held two fundraisers—a benefit dinner at Scott’s Catfish and Seafood in Rustin, LA and a Dodgeball Tournament on the LA Tech campus. The event proved successful, earning the organization nearly $4, 000 to spend on supplies for the troops.

The group gathered together on May 1 to pack and ship the boxes. Mr. Kavanaugh noted that the process required a lot of work, but it was worth “knowing that [we] made a slight difference…for the people who are fighting for our freedom.”

Herobox is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide the physical and moral support our heroes need while they are away from home.
