Unique On-line Membership Site for Ice Skaters Launches May 20 , 2013

May 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Like Betty, avid figure skaters over the age of 30 are also unique.   Figure skating tends to be populated by kids and teens and more often than not, adult skaters are usually in the minority in their clubs or the rinks where they practice.  In many cases, coaches, other skaters, officials are supportive of older skaters, but this is not always the case.  This is usually due to a lack of information on the unique needs of adult figure skaters.

The typical adult ice skater works on the same basic elements of figure skating as his or her younger counterparts and participates in the same disciplines, such as ice dance, free style and synchronized skating.  

On May 20, 2013 a membership site dedicated to building an on-line community for these avid and dedicated ice skaters will be launched. Skaters from all over the world who visit will find a friendly on- line community where they can exchange information, share their experience and receive practical hints on all aspects of adult figure skating.
Members will benefit from an interactive and moderated community open 24/7.  

They will be able to exchange information on topics which are important to adult skaters such as finding a good coach, training location or recommendations for appropriate equipment and clothing.   Members will be encouraged to post videos of their skating skills and receive feedback from other skaters.    Members will also encourage each other when participating in adult figure skating competitions or tests.

The creator an administrator of this site is Lori Robertson.  Lori has over 30 years of experience in ice skating as a coach and skater.  At the age of 52, Lori continues to figure skater on a regular basis and is also a Skate Canada National Coaching Certification Program level 1 figure skating coach.     She is a passionate advocate of figure skating as a sport for life.

In 2012, she wrote and released “Figure Skating???  At Your Age????    An Introduction and Encouragement for the Hesitant Figure Skater of a “Certain” Age.     A book of practical advice for people over the age of 30 wishing to start or return to figure skating after a prolonged absence.
