Follow on Google News | Spring Cleaning at Quincy Midland ParkCommunity leaders and entertainers join forces to clean up neighborhood park.
By: Royal Ryderz The Adopt-A-Park Program gives individuals and groups the opportunity to participate in the revitalization of Detroit by maintaining and beautifying green spaces around the city. The City of Detroit is seeking individuals, community groups and businesses to adopt parks or play areas and pledge to take care of them for a set period of time. Over the years, hundreds of individuals and groups have taken part in this exciting program. Tone Scott the founder of Oops Entertainment grew up in the area and would periodically maintain the park on his own. Scott states, “This is one of the best ways to meet neighbors new and old, and do something good for our community as well. These events instill a sense of community pride as well as beautify our streets.” Richard Bass of Chosen One Productions is a local playwright who is looking for opportunities to give back to the community. Bass believes he has been chosen to lead by example. Cleanup will begin at 12:00pm and end at 3:00pm. Volunteers are meeting at Quincy Midland Park which is located at the corner of Quincy and Midland; two blocks east of Livernois and one block south of Puritan. Volunteers are encouraged to bring sunscreen, bug spray and heavy gloves. Water, latex gloves, and garbage bags will be provided. Royal Ryderz is a non-profit organization who mentors at-risk youth and is known for their annual school supply and grocery giveaways.
