Other contenders include Compassion Over Killing (COK), Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine (PCRM), and the Vegetarian Society of DC (VSDC). Timing chips will verify runners' performance as they course our new route, which now includes scenic Brookside Gardens.

GREEN Details: This year’s race will be our GREENEST yet!! All food is (always) vegan, leftovers will be enjoyed by the Poplar pigs, and scraps will be composted. Race t-shirts will be organic cotton, zero plastic water bottles will be distributed, and virtual goody bags are being utilized in place of material bags. All recyclables will be recycled, and a tree will be planted for each participant by Trees For The Future.
Old athletic shoes can be donated to be recycled into playground surfaces.
Clean Currents will donate $30 to Poplar Spring for every participant who switches to clean, renewable wind power through its Green Neighborhood Energy Challenge. Take 4 minutes to sign up at www.cleancurrents.com and mention “Greener In Greenbelt” when you enroll.
