Back in March of 2013, Pentair Aquatic Systems announced that a few of their variable-speed swimming pool pumps were certified by ENERGY STAR. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environment Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy which helps label and promote energy efficient products. Some of the first products to get the approval included IntelliFlo Variable Speed Pumps, IntelliFlo VF pumps and IntelliFlo VS+SVRS pumps. Not only was this a milestone for Pentair, the aforementioned pumps were the first in the industry to receive the ENERGY STAR certification.

Pentair also reports that according to ENERGY STAR, certified pool pumps will be an average 30-70% more energy efficient compared to standard models saving consumers up to $160 per year.
