Are You at Risk for a Blood Clot?

Respected medical journals all around the world are reporting on drospirenone containing medications like Yaz upon the conclusion of studies done on them—all of these studies are finding a disturbingly strong link between Yaz and blooding clotting: “One 10-year study tracked blood clot rates in 15- to 49-year-old Danish women with no history of cardiovascular disease. The study found that women taking pills containing…drospirenone were at higher risk for blood clots than women taking pills containing levonorgestrel, one of the oldest synthetic progestins.  A second study of more than 3,200 Dutch women found that compared with women who did not use birth control, women taking…drospirenone had a 6.3 times greater risk (for developing a blood clot.”  Obviously, this information is upsetting because of the high levels of reported risk, which can lead to not only blood clotting, but DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis), pulmonary embolism, and heart attack as well.
