OSUM to Host First Ever Gala May 17 at NOOR Restaurant & Ballroom in Pasadena

LOS ANGELES - May 10, 2013 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, CA (April 23, 2013) – Operation Smiles Uplifting Military (OSUM) the newly created Los Angeles based non-profit group dedicated to providing free basic dental care to veterans is gaining supporters and  momentum in a big way.  Tickets are now on sale for their first ever gala event set for Friday, May 17, from 7 p.m. to midnight, at NOOR Restaurant and Ballroom located at 260 East Colorado Blvd., in Pasadena.

The $67 ticket (per person) event includes gourmet appetizers, a variety show and the opportunity to bid on an array of silent auction items. The evening’s entertainers will feature musicians, singers, dancers and an improvisational group. Attire is semi-formal. NOOR Restaurant parking is $6.

         “Since launching OSUM four months ago, we’ve been overwhelmed with an outpouring of support from residents throughout Southern California,” emphasized OSUM founder Dr. Jorge Montes, “Indeed, there are many individuals who support our veterans, believe in our efforts and want to help see OSUM come to fruition. It’s their encouragement and hard work that is making this gala possible and for that I’m very thankful,” he added.

About OSUM  

OSUM’s official website, http://www.ThisIsOSUM.org  will serve as the program’s registry. It is set to officially open on June 18, 2013, with a full schedule of patients already identified and prepared to receive treatments.  A ribbon cutting ceremony is slated for Monday, June 17, from noon to 2 p.m. and all are invited to attend. Dental services will be open to qualifying veterans starting from World War II including Korean and Vietnam Wars. Veterans will need to show proof of service.  At the start, all work will be performed at Dr. Montes’s office at 6631 Laurel Canyon Blvd. in North Hollywood; however, the ultimate goal is to find a permanent location.

         OSUM will offer each qualifying veteran $1,500 per year of  basic dental services that includes  exams, x-rays, teeth cleaning, extractions, composite fillings, root canal treatments, crowns, removable partial dentures, full dentures and relines.  These services will be provided free of charge, up to $1,500, unless a participating veteran is open to making a donation.
