TusCA Ristorante to Offer Salad Special in Honor of National Salad Month This May

MONTEREY, CA – TusCA Ristorante at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa Chef Russell Young announced today that May in National Salad Month.  In honor of National Salad Month, TusCA Ristorante will be offer a lunch and dinner salad special available through May 31st!

Salad Specials for May:

·         Lunch: TusCA Salad $12 Smoked Artichokes, Olives,  Pepperoncini, Yellow Peppers, Junipero  Cheese, Lemon Infused Olive Oil

·         Dinner: Roasted Beet Salad $10, Frisee, Tarragon, Hazelnut, Grapefruit Vinaigrette

Some facts about Salads:

·         In ancient Egypt, lettuce was sacred to the fertility god Min and considered to be a powerful aphrodisiac. The first representation of salad appeared in paintings on Egyptian tombs in 4500 BC.

·         The name lettuce is derived from the Latin word "Latucca," which refers to the vegetable’s milky juice and it is believed that the Romans introduced it to England.

·         Christopher Columbus introduced lettuce to the new world and from there lettuce in the United States went into cultivation.

·         Americans eat their salads before or alongside of their entrees. In Europe, however, salad is often served after dinner, as a way to cleanse the palette.
