FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - May 8, 2013 - PRLog -- Sonja Foster holds many titles including, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Entrepreneur, Choir Directress, Minister, and Realtor! However, her story began in a small town in Quincy Florida, right outside of the state capital Tallahassee. Unlike major cities like New York and Los Angeles, Quincy is a small rural town. Sonja attributes much of her honest, helpful and hospitable characteristics to her hometown. Quincy stands in a class all by its self when it comes to great people! Sonja’s foundation was built and nurtured by her parents, who are both Pastors in the Evangelical Christian Church, so quite naturally she was raised with strong biblical values. At an early age Sonja exemplified uncanny attributes of being very compassionate and courageous as a young child. Growing up with 8 siblings, consisting of 5 brothers and 3 sisters, her family didn’t have much, but where they lacked financially they made up for it in the abundance of love and unity. Sonja states, “We are inseparable!” From these beginnings Sonja Foster has learned the importance of appreciating what some would deem as the “Small things of life.”

In her formative years she accepted the call of God to be a minister. Her love for God was always evident as a child. Sonja always stood out from the crowd with her Christian values and from that was born a true leader! Wherever there was a crowd around her, you could believe she was leading it.

Fast forward to her teenage years; Sonja developed a love for sports, due to 5 older brothers. Sonja often found herself enjoying playing football, soccer, & volleyball; however, basketball became her absolute favorite sport! In the 9th grade Sonja tried out for the high school Junior Varsity basketball squad, with no prior training other than the constant challenges of playing with her brothers in the front yard, Sonja made the cut. Soon after, Sonja received an unexpected achievement, as the varsity team coach noticed her talent, and invited her to the Varsity squad. Sonja was surprised, as she accepted the invitation, as the only 9th grader on the Varsity team. A great achievement, especially being that her high school had a very high profile basketball team in the state of Florida. Soon after Sonja added to her repertoire music, as she discovered a strong sense of passion and unique gifting. She developed skillfully as a musician playing several instruments, so much to the point of walking away from the game of basketball. She discovered a calling! Armed with the uncanny ability to pick up instruments and play them with little or no practice. Sonja began to write and teach songs for her church choir; not to mention, traveling all over the State of Florida directing choirs. It is there where her calling to the ministry and her love for music first met. It was truly love at first experience!

Upon attending Florida A&M University as a student Sonja was elected as one of the only female Directress of the “World Renown Florida A&M University Gospel Choir”. This was a major deal, because of her early childhood years growing up right outside of Tallahassee; Sonja enjoyed traveling to listen to the Universities choir sing. Sonja remembers the precision choreography and orchestration; also the amazing power of the choir, which she is now a part of this great tradition, as a member and director leading the 100 plus member choir! She proudly speaks about being a part of the universities legacy! Sonja mentions, Florida A&M is where she developed her first platform. Sonja’s time as the Directress of the Florida A&M University Gospel Choir was an unforgettable one. Not only was it an amazing opportunity in which she traveled the United States of America singing and teaching in front of thousands of people, but also it was in that very same choir she met her husband Joey Foster! Despite Joey and Sonja being in the same choir under Sonja’s direction for 5 years, the two never said one single word to each other. No until one day after rehearsal Sonja had asked Joey to consider being a leader in some aspect of the choir. They exchanged information and after several years of building a friendship and dating Sonja and Joey became husband and wife in the spring of 2009. Soon after their marriage they became proud parents of their daughter “Kiersten” who’s name means “Follower of Christ”.

Together Sonja and Joey became ordained Ministers and Worship Leaders at their local church, which eventually lead to them establishing their own nonprofit organization “Foster Ministries Inc.” (www.FosterMinistries.org) To further the lifesaving message of Jesus Christ, which consists of helping the less fortunate; especially the youth who are in great need. Joey and Sonja are well known as dynamic motivational speakers. Foster Ministries’ mantra is “Fostering Faith, Families and Futures!”

As a mother Sonja mentions that her greatest accomplishment was giving birth to her daughter Kiersten. As a nurturer, Sonja often speaks of the joy she gets out of raising their only child. Sonja recalls holding Kiersten for the very first time, as being a moment she will never forget. Kiersten looked up at her mommy for the first time Sonja explains, new to this world, afraid yet not crying. Sonja states, “I believe Kiersten wasn’t crying because she knew that mommy was there to secure, foster, and nurture her.

Sonja always had a unique interest in the real estate market. She worked for years as a legal assistant dealing with foreclosures, as well as home loans. Sonja received several awards for her outstanding achievements as a legal assistant. The exposure to both sides of the real estate market helped develop an understanding of the industry from a back office perspective within the inner workings of the banking industry, especially as it relates to the culture. Sonja decided to take her knowledge base and endeavor into the real estate arena as a Florida Licensed Realtor. Her understanding of knowing what not to do, serves as a great foundation to provide excellent insight to her customers. Sonja’s understanding of buyers and sellers in this current day market is prized says her Broker Karen Fernando-Dean. Her humble beginnings, big visions, and great achievements have led Sonja Foster, as a trusted professional.
