Texas Student Council raises nearly $2, 000 for Herobox

ROUND ROCK, Texas - May 7, 2013 - PRLog -- Tyrone, GA, --In March, the Student Council from Cactus Ranch Elementary in Round Rock, Texas presented a check to Herobox for nearly $2, 000 to be used for organizational needs. The students hosted a Super Bowl-O-Rama in which they sold football stickers to the student body. The stickers were placed on football displays near each teacher’s classroom. The classes competed to collect the most stickers. Winning classes received a Popcorn Super Bowl party where the teacher had to come dressed as a favorite football player.

The Student Council found the fundraiser to be a learning experience in which they discovered that “you don’t have to win, but that giving back to our community is the greater gift.”   The Herobox staff and Board of Directors were moved at the generosity and heart of the students at Cactus Ranch Elementary. General Robert Hughes, from the Board, expressed the organization’s appreciation through a conference call with the Student Council. Principal Cristina Ramirez noted that “everyone [had] goose bumps and tear[s]...The kids will probably never forget that.”
