7th Annual Scholarship Golf Classic scheduled for June 10th in Owatonna

OWATONNA, Minn. - May 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Owatonna, Minnesota—April 29, 2013

Doherty Staffing Solutions and Riverland Community College Foundation are working together to raise scholarship dollars for Riverland Community College students. A major part of the fundraising strategy is this year's Scholarship Golf Classic, to be held June 10th at Owatonna Country Club on Lemond Road in Owatonna.

Funds raised from the Scholarship Golf Classic, now in its 7th year, will go to scholarships for Riverland Community College students. Over the years, the Scholarship Golf Classic has raised more than $125,000 for Riverland students. In October, Doherty presented Riverland with a $20,000 check from the 2012 Scholarship Golf Classic. Last year’s sponsors included Fidelity Bank, Beth and John Fondell, Gopher Sport, Jennings Family Foundation, Insurance Applications Group, LLC, Jostens, Loffler Companies, Plaza Morena Restaurant, Riverland Community College, SPX Corporation, TPS Insurance Agency, Truth Hardware, and US Bank, Viracon, Dan Gorman, Gauher Mohammad, and Tim and Val Doherty.

Each year, approximately 700 students graduate from Riverland Community College. Eighty percent of them stay in the area, and ninety-four percent find jobs in various fields, including welding, machining, and forklift operations.

7th Annual Scholarship Golf Classic information
Registration is now open to participate in the 18-hole tournament, which will be a four-person scramble and includes a dinner and evening program and prizes. Golfers are welcome to bring partners or they can be assigned to a foursome. Sponsorships range from dinner only for one person ($40) to Double Eagle 2-foursome sponsorships ($2500) that include 8 golf entries, 8 carts, and 8 dinners at reserved tables, as well as recognition at the event.
