The Tampa Bay Fibro Day 2013 will recognize National Fibromyalgia Awareness Month by creating awareness, providing education and showing support for the Tampa Bay Fibro Community at this free event held on Saturday, May 11th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at Abby's Health and Nutrition, 14374 N. The Tampa Bay Fibro Friends (TBFF) Meetup Group and The West Pasco Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Support Group have joined efforts to create Tampa Bay Fibro Day 2013. This free event on Saturday, May 11th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm will recognize National Fibromyalgia Awareness Month by creating awareness, providing education and showing support for the Tampa Bay Fibro Community.

Abby’s Health and Nutrition, 14374 N. Dale Mabry in Tampa, will host this first time event, which is similar to National Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain Association functions held in May by Fibro groups throughout America and the world. “Abby’s is committed to bringing health and nutrition to the Tampa Bay area,” General Manager Victor Karydis affirms. “Partnering on projects that can bring light on this topic to the Fibro community is in alignment with that mission.”

The Bonati Spine Institute and Dr. Alfred Bonati are proud to be the “Fibro Friend Sponsor” for Tampa Bay Fibro Day and support the local community. As an educator and a patient advocate at heart, Dr. Bonati knows that knowledge is power, and believes everyone has the ability to regain their quality of life back. Accompanied by Jessica Bellman, Business Development Director at the Institute and a reputable local healthcare advocate, Dr. Bonati will provide free basic screenings and MRI and CT scan reviews for those who would like to bring recently acquired scans. Dr. Bonati is the founding physician who patented the laser spinal procedure "the Bonati Procedure" and instrumentation. This is your chance to learn and speak directly to the physician who started it all. There will be a brief lecture and presentation followed by questions at noon.

Free mini-acupuncture sessions will be offered by Calm Community Acupuncture. Educational and nutritional information will be made available and there will be a “Kreate Your Fibro Butterfly” Kids’ Kraft table. Those who may have questions about fibromyalgia can talk with Tampa Bay Fibro Friends advocates for guidance and support and even take a questionnaire to determine if they have any symptoms of fibromyalgia. Martha Rodriguez Cruz, the Official TBFF Resident Chef, will partner with Café Eden to create a special Fibro Friendly Meal available for purchase at the café or one can buy the ingredients right in the store and make it at home. There will also be live music to set the mood, provided by BenefitArtists.com and featuring local Tampa Bay artists, some of whom are Functioning Fibros.

“Last year we participated in Fibro Awareness Day by having several small events in Tampa Bay. This is our first ever, area-wide event involving so many businesses, multiple support groups, volunteers and different facets all in one place, in one day,” comments Tampa Bay Fibro Friends Founder/Organizer, Laura Roza, a fellow Functioning Fibro and the Radio Host for “Fibro Friends Radio Show”. “We are confident that this will lay the groundwork for even bigger events in years to come!
