Patty’s Closet, Sparkle, Heart & Sole and Town Square Host “Walk In Your Party Dress” Event To Benefit Southern Nevada Children First

Charity event will take place May 11 from 8:30 -10:30 a.m.

LAS VEGAS –Patty’s Closet Fashion Boutique, Sparkle by Patty’s Closet, Heart & Sole by PC and Town Square have joined forces to bring Las Vegas a very special charity event, “Walk in your party dress” on Saturday, May 11 from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

The event encourages participants to stroll through Town Square in their party dresses for a worthy cause, with all proceeds going to the exclusive charity Southern Nevada Children First. The goal of Southern Nevada Children First is to address the needs of homeless, pregnant and parenting youth throughout Southern Nevada.

“We are so excited for our annual gathering here in Las Vegas, “Walk in your party dress” event. Partnering with a location like Town Square is the perfect venue for us to achieve our goal, as we love to bring a fun event to Las Vegas in a family friendly atmosphere. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my Saturday than participating in this walk for a deserving charity like Southern Nevada Children First,” said Patty Barba, owner and operator of Patty’s Closet, Sparkle by Patty’s Closet, and Heart & Sole by Patty’s Closet.

As an added incentive, beyond charitable giving, for those who mention the walk at any Patty’s Closet locations, they will receive 20% off ANY dress. Casual shoes are encouraged, and the cost is $25 with pre-registration beginning on-site at 8:00 a.m. on the main event lawn, closest to Tommy Bahamas.

Southern Nevada Children First is a non-profit organization created to mentor, educate and train homeless, pregnant and parenting youth and young adults. According to National Clearinghouse on Families and Youth, thousands of young people run away from home, are forced to leave their homes, or become homeless in the United States each year. Many of these young ladies are pregnant or parenting, or become pregnant shortly after. Pregnant and parenting youth not only need basic necessities like food and shelter, they must also learn to be effective parents and independent adults. Without support, knowledge and resources, these young ladies are forced to live on the streets. A recent study done in Clark County Nevada revealed that on any given day there are over 300 unaccompanied homeless youth, in Clark County alone (Strategic Solutions July 2006).
