Upcoming Events At The State Theatre: May 6 – May 12

The State continues its action-packed May programming schedule with a variety of musical, dance, and local acts that are great for families looking for affordable ways to spend time together or music buffs. We’ve recapped each one for you below.
 
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - May 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Tuesday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m., Singing Onstage Studios presents the musical Smile at The State Theatre. Smile chronicles the backstage troubles of the fictional 1985 California Young American Miss pageant in Santa Rosa, California. Directed by Richard Biever and choreographed by Jill A. Brighton, Smile is performed by Singing Onstage’s talented high school class.

Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m., The Ballet Theatre of State College, with dancers from the Performing Arts School of Central Pennsylvania, will perform their Spring Gala. The Spring Gala presents a unique opportunity for the audience to experience a variety of ballets. Performances will also take place on Saturday, May 11 at 3 p.m. and again at 7 p.m.

Saturday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m., come to The Attic at The State Theatre for August Room’s CD Release Party! Join singer/songwriter Judson Mantz along with band members Lynn Chaplin, John Lynch, Liz Grove and Steve Christensen for the release of their latest CD,  ‘In An August Room.’  Their music has a little bit of everything, blending indie cabaret-rock with influences from stadium rock, Americana, prog-rock and reggae.
