By: Orion Digital All benefits under Bangaru Thalli scheme are an addition to already existing welfare schemes provided by the AP Govt to women. The facility of Angandwadi in this scheme is a part of the Indian public healthcare system. It provides supplementary nutrition, non-formal pre-school education, nutrition and health education, immunization, health check-up and referral services. The government will also take care of the registration process for girls in schools and colleges. The target group is 8 lakh girls born each year in poor households / white cardholders. A sum of Rs. 2,06,000/- will be spent on each girl, under this scheme, till she completes her degree education and becomes an independent adult. The scheme started with effect from 1st May 2013 and the cash transfer would take place after 1st June 2013. On this occasion CM Kiran Kumar Reddy speaks “Every girl has to be independent in this century. She is not a burden to a family. To make such thoughts into action, the government has come up with Bangaru Thalli – Golden Girl scheme”. He also stated that he wants to make Andhra Pradesh a state free from female foeticide. End
