1000 Used Cell Phone Donations in the Month of May to benefit U.S. Servicemen and Women Overseas

TUSTIN, Calif. - May 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Tustin, California - Conrey Insurance Brokers, a leading provider of personal and business insurance and financial services has selected “Cell Phones for Soldiers” as the focus of their charitable efforts for 2013.  The firm is committed to collecting at least 1,000 used cell phones in the month of May.  They are asking their clients’, friends’ and the community’s help in meeting this worthy goal.  Cell Phones for Soldiers is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing deployed U.S. servicemen and women with free calling card minutes so they may keep in touch with their loved ones back home.  They accomplish this through the donation of used cell phones and activated pre-paid calling cards.  With May containing both Armed Forces Day, on the 18th, and Memorial Day, the 27th, it’s the perfect time to take action to benefit our brave men and women serving overseas.

Since being founded in 2004, Cell Phones for Soldiers provided 181 million minutes of free talk time to American military personnel serving overseas. Every $5 donation of cash, device or calling card value, provides our brave troops with 150 minutes of talk time. Staying connected with family members and loved ones helps boost our soldiers’ morale, and keeps families connected while they are deployed far away.

Not only does this cause benefit deployed U.S. service members, but also helps prevent the toxic components contained in cell phones, and their batteries, from contaminating our environment. More than 100 million cell phones are replaced each year in America. Far too many of these phones end up in landfills causing damage to the environment. So far, the used cell phone donations to Cell Phones for Soldiers have kept almost 11 million cell phones from ending up in landfills.

Conrey Insurance Brokers will be accepting donations of cell phones and prepaid calling cards at their offices in Tustin during the entire month of May.  The firm will fund the cost of shipping these donated phones and accessories to Cell Phones for Soldiers in Massachusetts.  Donations may be dropped off in the lobby, Monday through Friday, from 8AM to 5PM.  Their offices are located at 17821 East 17th Street, Suite 100 Tustin.
