May 7, 2013 - PRLog -- Comic Geeks is a St. Louis based web series about a group of comic book obsessed friends who struggle to balance adult life with their four-colored passion.  It follows four friends who feel burdened by the inescapable responsibilities of adulthood but balance their lives by obsessing over the minutia of comic books and pop culture.  Comic Geeks is about growing up and growing old… Comic Geeks is about being yourself.

The 30 minute pilot “Nerds of a Feather” is now online and they are hoping geeks flock to their Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lordspathington/comic-geeks-a-web-series) campaign which is underway.  The $25,000 goal will be used to finish their first season of 12 episodes which run 5-15 minutes and combine live action with animation.  Those familiar with Kickstarter know that if they don’t reach their target amount, they won’t see any of the money raised. With a variety of cool and geeky tangible prizes available depending on your level of backing, they are on their way with 27 backers and growing.  If they make their goal, it appears that creator Brian Spath will be a busy man telepathically high-fiving, performing feats of physical endurance and stocking up on Winterfresh gum (read the complete list of pledge prizes to see everything he’ll be up to).

A CALOP grant allowed the Geeks to shoot their pilot which was featured in March on HEC-TV (http://www.hectv.org/video/10810/comic-geeks/) along with a Q&A with producer and actor Spath.  Fans can gather to watch the first episode and meet various cast and crew at comic conventions across the country.  They have already screened at several cons, including Wizard World St. Louis and Emerald City in Seattle, with dates for Florida, Tennessee, Colorado and Arizona coming up.

During their quest to finish 12 episodes, the 9 cast members have dealt with full time jobs, family matters, shoots at multiple locations, complicated schedules and of course their continued pursuit of the ultimate comic book collection while working towards their season wrapping up in August.

The series is filmed in St. Louis with primary locations in The Delmar Loop (Vintage Vinyl, Tivoli Theatre, Star Clipper), South City (Urban Eats) and Grand Center (Arts & Education Council building) areas.
