Follow on Google News | Live Candidates’ Forums at Ashland Public Library, May 7 and 14Residents get a chance to ask questions of the candidates before the May 21 town election.
The fifth annual live Candidates’ Forums are sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the civic group, We Love Ashland! Selectmen Vice Chairman Joe Magnani, School Committee member Mark Juitt and former Ashland Police Department chief Scott Rohmer will vie for two available seats on the Board of Selectmen. Bob Hebden will not run again. The moderator for the Board of Selectmen Forum is Roberta Soolman, chair of the Open Space Committee who has worked with the Board of Selectmen on many aspects of the Warren Woods acquisition. Vanessa Charles and Michael J. Mokey are running for one, five-year seat on the Planning Board. Paul Wilkinson is not running again. The moderator is Sarah Hines, on the practice faculty of Boston Architectural College and an active member of the Congress for the New Urbanism. Gina Donovan, Mark Larson and Adam Elbirt are running for two three-year seats on the School Committee. Juitt and Chairwoman Kathy Bach are not seeking re-election. Judy Leavey, who most recently served on the town manager search committee, will be the moderator. The Forums are an opportunity for citizens to meet the candidates and directly ask questions. The organizers believe that residents want to learn about the candidates before casting their vote at the May 21 town election.
