By: Indie Films News NY Written by Rebecca Hotaling Nix, the film tells the story of an Italian family celebrating their grandmothers 75th birthday. While at the birthday dinner, a few of the family members, and one non family member, reveal that they are having troubles with past relationships. The problems are shown in a series of flashbacks, while the characters tell the story of their relationship problems at the dinner, in front of the entire family. The film began production in April and is expected to complete Principle Photography in June. In May of 2012, writer Rebecca Nix came to director Andrew DeAngelo, who was only 16 at the time, with the script for "Exes". DeAngelo read the script and was immediately on board to direct the film. "Rebecca sent me an email asking me to read the script" says DeAngelo, "After I read it I knew right away I wanted to do this film [Exes]. It was so different from what has come out of the Utica area, and I am thankful she asked me to do it". "Exes" will be DeAngelo's feature length directional debut at only 17 years old. DeAngelo hired Full Sail University graduate, Ryan Perez to do the cinematography for the film. The filmmakers plan to send the film to 2014's Sundance Film Festival as well as many other Major and Minor festivals. The film is currently looking at a September 2013 release date. End
