Follow on Google News | Yorkshire Ale Heads to RHS Chelsea – As Nature Intended!A collection of Yorkshire businesses have come together in a bid to win Gold at this year’s centenary of the renowned RHS Chelsea.
Stockton Drilling of Wakefield is the main sponsor of the ‘As Nature Intended’ garden designed by Rotherham based garden designer Jamie Dunstan. The duo have teamed up with Wold Top Brewery of Driffield to encapsulate the essence of the garden which features a sea of barley, the key ingredient for the Brewery’s renowned range of ales. Fiona O’Connell, proprietor of Stockton Drilling (http://www.stocktondrilling.com/) Wold Top Brewery owner and horticulturalist Gill Mellor said: “It’s thought that it will be the first time that barley has been used at Chelsea but it’s very appropriate for a Yorkshire themed garden as the Yorkshire Wolds is one of England's prime malting barley growing areas. We’ll also be using some of this Wolds grown barley to produce a commemorative “As Nature Intended” beer that will be available on Press Day.” In addition to the barley, “As Nature Intended” features natural stone provided by Burlington Stone, yew and willow sculptures by highly acclaimed Yorkshire sculptor Emma Stothard and a sympathetic planting scheme. The centenary RHS Chelsea Flower Show is from 21-25 May and Gill Mellor will be on hand throughout the show to talk to visitors about the barley and the micro-brewery that is based on the family’s farm on the Yorkshire Wolds. The ‘As Nature Intended’ garden will be located on Main Avenue. End
