The Excellence in Design (EID) Awards was instituted by Environmental Design + Construction (EDC), considered to be the official magazine for the LEED professional. It recognizes and awards buildings that demonstrate a clear commitment to unique sustainable design and innovative strategies.

The EID Awards categories under consideration were: Commercial, Institutional, Government, Residential, and Educational, each split into two groups – New Construction and Renovation.
