What:          As a community service, veterinarians from Central Veterinary Associates, the Bayside Animal Clinic and the Boulevard Animal Clinic, along with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, will offer a low-cost microchip clinic for pets during the “Pets & Pals Party.” Pets & Pals is made possible with the generosity of the Office of City Councilman Mark Weprin, the New York City Parks and Recreation Department, CVA and its network of animal hospitals.

In exchange for a donation, owners will have their pets professionally implanted with a Home Again microchip and, for an additional donation, can have their pet’s registration onsite for life. All the money raised will go to the Alley Pond Environmental Center, the New York City Veterinary Emergency Response Team and Bobbi and the Strays, a not-for-profit no-kill animal shelter based in Glendale, Queens.

The veterinarians emphasize that all pet owners should have their pets microchipped. This ensures their pet’s health and safety so that they can be found if they run away or if they are taken by a stranger. Having a pet microchipped is a successful step in responsible pet ownership.
