Ralphs Seafood Manger Terry Horton Receives Award for Service from Customer

An outstanding employee is recognized by one of the people he serves and given a one-of-a-kind award for service.

LOS ANGELES - May 2, 2013 - PRLog -- “I have to be as healthy as possible,” said Lovelace Lee III, business growth consultant and president of the consulting firm Robert Lucy Creative. “For two years Terry Horton has been instrumental in helping me live up to that goal.” Horton is a Seafood Manager at the Ralphs Supermarket located at Olympic and Barrington in West Los Angeles.

“Terry provides a level of service that needs to be recognized at the highest levels,” Lee said. “He keeps me abreast of new types of seafood available, prices and even methods of preparation. I’m much better because of him.” Lee talked with Terry O’Neil, Ralphs Manger of Public Relations and learned that Horton has already won every honor that The Kroger Co. subsidiary offers during his 23 years of service. “I was inspired to create a new companywide designation that honored Terry and that would give other Seafood Managers in the Kroger family of supermarkets a new goal for both personal and professional excellence,” Lee said.

The new designation that Lee created is called “Master Seafood Manager.” Lee hopes that Kroger will award his new designation to Seafood Managers with a minimum of 15 years of service, who create stunning seafood display cases and have consistently demonstrated the highest levels of customer service, like Horton. The consultant also offers a filmed profile, training, public relations and employee recognition programs he hopes to provide Kroger. “I realize that Kroger could certainly do everything I proposed in-house, but it hasn’t been done. I saw an opportunity and took it. However, I’m confident that a publicly-owned corporation has a place for the small, African American, service veteran business owner who is working to create opportunities for others,” Lee added. Kroger has thousands of vendors. “I’m just like a farmer, except that my crops are business strategies for growth.”

Lee also awarded Horton with a prototype “Master Seafood Manager” plaque. He’s presented his proposal locally to O’Neil and is waiting to hear from Keith Dailey, Director, Media Relations/ Corporate Communications for Kroger. Lee has had phone conversations with O’Neil who suggested that he reach out to the corporate office in Cincinnati. Lee’s efforts to reach Dailey by phone and email have unsuccessful.
