ELM GROVE, Wis. - May 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Everyone has a mother. Yet only one day a year - the second Sunday in May – is anointed to recognize, honor and thank mothers for their hard work, patience and endless love.

Don’t you want to make Mom feel special on Mother’s Day (http://www.snapdragonflowerseg.com/elm-grove-florist/mothers-day-flowers-97c.asp?topnav=LeftNav), May 12?

Mother’s Day can easily be memorable with some extra thought and creativity, according to Denise Barnett (http://www.elmgroveflowershop.com/cmshome.php?Our-Story-26), co-owner of Snapdragon Flowers of Elm Grove (http://www.elmgroveflowershop.com/home.php). Ideas are many, and effort minimal.

“Mother’s Day is about knowing who Mom is, and paying attention to her special likes and interests,” Barnett said. “It’s also a day to treat Mom like a queen, which for most mothers is a long-overdue honor.”

Serving Mom a breakfast tray in bed, adorned with garden flowers such as tulips and daffodils, will start her day off right. A corsage (http://www.snapdragonflowerseg.com/prom-corsages-boutonni...) to wear at church might make her blush with pride. Flowers delivered to a restaurant where she’s having brunch will guarantee a bright smile.

A necklace wrapped around a flower vase greatly brightens up a bouquet. Jewelry is a great complement for any blooms. A less-pricey alternative is adorning Mom’s favorite flowers with “coupons” for family members to do household tasks, such as cleaning a bathroom or washing dishes.

Most Mother’s Day bouquets feature spring flowers (http://www.snapdragonflowerseg.com/spring-flowers-4828c.a...) such as tulips, daffodils and hyacinths, Barnett said. Roses are often added for color and splash. Vivid texture can be created with hydrangeas, orchids, viburnum and calla lilies. The combination of dense, textured blooms and large, softer petals is striking.

Bouquets or green plants can be accompanied by items that reflect Mom’s interests. If she enjoys gardening, for example, garden gloves or a trowel can be added next to a plant or in a gift bag.

Mother’s Day is often a long-distance holiday. Sending flowers elsewhere via online ordering should be done with care, Barnett said. She advised checking out customer reviews and reading the fine print. “Drop ship” online florists sometimes don’t preserve flowers well. A delivered box of flowers might even create additional work for Mom if she has to trim and put them in a vase.

“A local florist is always your best source for flowers, even when they’re being sent far away,” Barnett said. “The local store values you as a customer and will connect you with a reputable source. They won’t let you, nor your mother, down on this very special day.”
