“The green waste reduction is significant for the City of Oxnard and proof that the Green Team’s educational outreach has helped install best green practices in our neighborhoods,”
As part of the program, Green Team members and recruits will also have a chance to view the 29 ton, 45-foot “Orange Trommel Monster” Screen Machine in action at the Del Norte Recycling and Transfer Station. The new screen machine separates up to 160 tons of green waste a day. Green waste that can be recycled include yard and tree trimmings, grass clippings, leaves, pine needles and unpainted lumber. Items that cannot be recycled include palm fronds, yucca, cactus, banana trees, trash bags, cardboard, plastic, rope, twine, food scraps, diapers, garbage, dirt, rocks, animal waste, glass and metal.
The Green Team will reach out to Oxnard neighborhoods with green waste information flyers between 10 a.m. - noon on Saturday, May 18 and Friday, June 21.
