CHEYENNE, Wyo. - April 30, 2013 - PRLog -- OutdoorGearLab.com released its 2013 Editors' Choice awards for top Travel backpack today. Six of the best travel backpacks were evaluated in exhaustive side-by side reviewing. They were evaluated in the following categories: comfort, features, ease of packing, durability and weight.

The testing for this review involved everyday around-town activities, adventures in the backcountry, excursions through the streets of London, the jungles of Malaysia, backpacking through Europe and hitchhiking through South America.  View the entire review at: http://www.outdoorgearlab.com/Travel-Backpack-Reviews.

The winners:
Osprey Farpoint 55 http://www.outdoorgearlab.com/Travel-Backpack-Reviews/Osprey-Farpoint-55 – Winner of the Editors' Choice award for 2013. Gear Editor, Amanda Fenn reports, "The Farpoint has a taller, slimmer design that's easier to carry than the shorter, wider packs we tested. While you should always consider personal fit first and foremost, we agree that the taller pack provides greater balance and mobility, making it our favorite travel-pack-that-can-also-be-used-for-backcountry-adventures. Unlike other frameless packs, the Farpoint's peripheral frame successfully transfers the weight to the padded hip belt, making it comfortable to carry, even when packed to the gills."

Kelty Redwing 50 http://www.outdoorgearlab.com/Travel-Backpack-Reviews/Kel... – Winner of the Best Buy award for 2013. This award is given to a product that balances a high score in our tests with a reasonable price. Gear Editor, Fenn points out, "As a 50-liter pack, the Redwing fulfills the middle ground between travel and backpacking pack. Although it doesn’t have many travel features, it will comfortably allow you to adventure in the backcountry on shorter backpacking trips (we think three-day trips would be pretty sweet with the Redwing). We liked it’s numerous external pockets and gear loops. Also, its lightweight single-beam frame provides support without packing on tons of extra weight. It doesn’t come with a detachable day pack but overall, we thought this lightweight, inexpensive pack was a great option for travelers on a budget, so we gave it our Best Buy Award. At only $120, this pack was the least expensive of the framed packs and it offers more versatility in the backcountry than others we tested."

REI Stuff Travel Daypack 22 http://www.outdoorgearlab.com/Travel-Backpack-Reviews/REI... – Winner of a Top Pick award for 2013. This award goes to a product that is lightweight, compact, has a high capacity to weight ratio and is tremendously versatile. Gear Editor, Fenn states, "Unlike most of the other packs in this review, the REI Stuff Travel Daypack is designed to be an addition to your existing luggage. A super convenient rucksack-style pack, this durable daypack easily holds all the necessities for a hike, a day at the beach, or an afternoon of sightseeing. It collapses down into its own lid, making it the perfect addition to toss into your main travel pack or suitcase before heading out on your next trip. Although this pack doesn't have a frame, it isn't too floppy and carries surprisingly well; however, we noticed that it began to dig into our shoulders uncomfortably at about 15 pounds. At only $30, this pack is less than half of the price of a similar Patagonia pack, so it’s also a great deal. Overall, the Stuff Travel Daypack makes adventuring fun and easy, no matter where you travel. Thanks to its functionality, convenience, and value, we agreed that it deserved our Top Pick Award for this review."
