FLIR cameras came up with respect to the recent news of how the Boston bombing suspect was captured with infrared images.

Coach Gary Micheloni of United Infrared elaborated that United Infrared, Inc., is the world's largest network of certified and properly-trained thermographers, and is hosting the Thermal Imaging Conference in San Diego, June 3-6, 2013.

A feature of the Conference is the submission of images in competition for the United Infrared Awards, nicknamed 'the IMMY'. The IMMY is the name for the award for what is referred to as a "United Infrared Image". The United Infrared Image Award is one that best exemplifies an infrared image: one that tells a story,has a great title, and has great technical merit.
