Now Installing Lift in DDA Flats Becomes Much Easier

DWARKA, India - April 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Dwarka, New Delhi -- This is exceptional news for inhabitants of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) flats that now they can avail the facility of lifts in their flats. DDA agency has overhauled runs to endorse speedy approval for introduction of lifts in flats falling under Delhi/NCR.

Almost all housing projects built by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in the past 40 years do not have elevator facility. As these buildings were four-storied, an elevator was not a mandatory requirement. Delhi Development Authority (DDA)   has now eased the norms and lifts can now be installed in flats if the majority of flat owners i.e. six to eight houses agree to. The consent of ground floor owners is now not at all required as they are not beneficiaries of a lift.

This amendment of guidelines will profit those living in old DDA buildings and relaxes thousands of DDA flat owners who are senior citizens, now they won’t have to worry about climbing stairs. Operational head, BCSE -- Mrs. Kanswal says “we help our client in getting there petition passed by providing them quality elevator parts and advance elevator controllers which is one of the major factor in these approvals.” Adding to her statement she said “Flat owners will have to apply for a no-objection certificate (NOC) to DDA and to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (where services have been transferred from DDA *)”.

DDA agency says “The occupants will be responsible for its lift installation and maintenance. Installing an individual lift may also be possible however the occupants will have to purchase space from the authority. No fee will be levied by DDA for a common lift. The beneficiaries will additionally need to furnish recommendations from the lift installation agency. The recommendations should include the lift location, safety aspects and technical feasibility. Besides, a NOC will be submitted just after an enlisted engineer issues a structural dependability authentication to the flat-owners. While installing lifts on should also take into matter of installing automatic rescue device as it is one of the important safety feature required in a new installation while approving the project. - informed by Authority Officials  

Sources stated after the trifurcation of MCD, the process might have would have become more confusing. "Prior, DDA flat holders needed to apply either to DDA or MCD, relying on under whose ward the province fell. Now, there are three civic agencies, and inhabitants who had applied with the (unified) MCD might be advised to re-apply with the concerned corporation. This was leading to a lot of confusion and a need was felt to simplify the procedure," a source said.
