The Overland Farmers Market 2013 opening is from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 pm in the parking lot of The Home Depot store at Page Avenue and I-170 and will offer special activities for children as well as hot food choices cooked on the spot. The popular bluegrass music trio The Friendly Henrys will perform a free concert from 10 a.m. to noon.
Richard A. Kilzer, president of the Overland Farmers Market Board of Directors, says, “We are really excited about entering our sixth year of operations. We are dedicated to supporting local growers, farmers and artisans. Most of our vendors are local producers of fruits, vegetables and fresh meat products, in addition to those offering arts, crafts, living plants, gardening products and other consumer goods.”
This year’s opening day vendors will include County Line Farms, Nagl Farms, Papaya Grill, Worm Works and many others. The Home Depot is a major opening day sponsor and will offer fun activities for children, such as picture frame building, face painting and other free diversions.
The Overland Farmers Market is a popular destination and Saturday-morning tradition for hundreds of people who enjoy its family-friendly atmosphere and vendor offerings. “We love coming to the market for the shopping, special events, music, food and especially for its home town atmosphere,”
The Overland Farmers Market is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization managed by volunteers. After the May 18 opening day at Home Depot, the Market will occur every Saturday morning in the heart of Overland at the parking lot next to The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy on Woodson Road about one mile north of Page Avenue in St. Louis County.
