Prep for an Impenetrable Ultraguard Pool

In this final part of the 3 part series we go into the most important part of an Ultraguard Pool, the prep.

TAMPA, Fla. - April 26, 2013 - PRLog -- Without having a clean and ready surface for which a primer and hi-build epoxy coating can adhere to all swimming pools will fail eventually. This is a fact and anyone who tells you otherwise is someone you should not trust. It is simple physics that if the surface upon which the epoxy coatings are going are themselves loose and falling apart, then as to will the coating that goes on top of it. Almost every pool restoration that fails is because the prep for the swimming pool surface was not done correctly. The second major reason to note is the failure of cheap untested pool paints and pool epoxies.

Now then how Ultraguard Pool’s last so long is because of high quality hi-build epoxy coating and primer along with prep. We will summarize prep in the following so one can best understand the process of making an incredible, long lasting Ultraguard Pool. Prep begins with emptying the pool making sure to turn the valve found on your bottom drain to ensure the pool does not push out of the ground. This is followed by a nice pressure washing job to thoroughly clean the swimming pool. If you have a plaster pool do not be surprised to see pieces fly off where it has delaminated. Next is the easy part wait for it to dry. So go grab some lunch, catch a movie and relax until the next day because the hard part comes next. This is the most labor intensive part, but once done you will not have to do it again.  That’s what makes Ultraguard Hi-Build Epoxy and Primer Bond so great once its complete you don’t have to worry about recoating your Ultraguard Pool for over a decade.

This is wear you break out the elbow grease and get down and dirty or hire someone to do it, your choice. Go to Home Depot, in the tool corral and buy a 7” sanding pad that is 50 grit. It has a hole in the center, it sells for $1.99, it is reddish brown, it is thin and it flexes because it has a fiberglass backing. You will need a 7” angle grinder for this pad. You can rent one at Home Depot or buy one at Harbor Freight for about $35.00. This step is easy and fast. You go over the entire pool and hit it one time. If you should see some rough areas, USE a 24 OR 36 GRIT PAD try to make them smooth. Get it as smooth as possible in preparation for the Primer Bond and Ultraguard Hi-Build Epoxy coating.

Final step is to wash down the soon to be ultraguard pool very well making sure to get all sediment and dirt off. You may also want to consider using denatured alcohol and a sponge for any troublesome spots. If your swimming pool has any indents about the size of a silver dollar a 2 part epoxy putty is recommended to fill them. Now all that is left is the application of the Primer Bond with a day to wait for it to cure, then the Ultraguard Hi-Build Epoxy Coating.
