Hughes Floor Covering Introduces Mohawk SmartStrand with DuPont Sorona

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - April 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Locally owned and operated Hughes Floor Covering of Charlotte, NC is the area's largest carrier of the new Mohawk SmartStrand with DuPont Sorona carpeting. SmartStrand allows the consumer to buy environmentally responsible carpeting, while still providing the features that are sought after in carpeting; comfort, appearance and durability.  

SmartStrand carpet is made with DuPont Sorona renewably sourced fiber which has been proven to be an advance in biopolymer solutions. Consisting of 37% renewable resources instead of the more limited petroleum ingredients, the Sorona polymer requires 30% less energy than the production of the same amount of nylon and releases 63% fewer greenhouse gas emissions. These improvements in production have made the DuPont Sorona environmental footprint significantly smaller than that of nylon 6.
