Champions Announced for the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society Fourth Annual Night of Champions

PRLog - Apr. 24, 2013 - (SAVANNAH, GA) The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society (LDSS) announces this 2013 Champions to be honored May 9th during their Fourth Annual Night of Champions. Champions and their employers are Shameka Mitchell from Center for Digestive & Liver Health, Kathryn Weis from Piggly Wiggly, Margaret Hiers from Quantum Specialized Assembly, Jim Ford from Rincon Transmission, and Townsend Brown from Chic-Fil-A.

“The Night of Champions is making a tangible difference in the business community. One of this year’s Champions, Townsend, was hired after his Owner Operator attended the Night of Champions last year,” said LDSS Night of Champions Chairperson, Allyson Harvin. Not only that but, “They are getting two additional tables because of the number of employees that want to attend to support him. To accommodate all of the requests, they are having a contest to see who gets to attend!” she said.

Harvin also added, “Our business community is being changed one life at a time, one night at a time. Opportunity follows in the wake left by education and advocacy.”

The Night of Champions awards and celebration will be in the ballroom of the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa ballroom on Thursday, May 9th beginning at 6 pm. Night of Champions celebrates the contributions made by differently-abled adults who are employed, contributing members of our community and recognizes local businesses who both hire people with intellectual disabilities and encourage other area businesses to do the same. http://www.nightofchampions.org
