Well Known Local Guitar Duo to Perform June 7

April 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Noted local classical guitarists Peter Pupping and William Wilson will present a beautiful mix of classical, Spanish and contemporary Latin guitar music at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 7 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The church is located at 925 Balour Dr., Encinitas, CA, and has been selected as a concert location because of its perfect acoustics, necessary for the full enjoyment of a classical guitar concert.  

Both Pupping and Wilson are recording artists, teachers, and performers, and are known to put on a beautiful live program.

The duo’s performance will include well-known Spanish classical pieces by Enrique Granados, and other notable pieces from Chazarreta, Lara, Faure, Ferrer, Jobim and Sting. They will also present original music compositions.

Pupping and Wilson have been playing as soloists, together as a duo, and in larger ensembles for the past 20 years. Their relationship began in 1988 when Wilson was a young guitar student under Pupping. At age 15, Wilson joined Pupping’s quartet and started his professional career. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in guitar performance from San Diego State University and was selected Outstanding Student of the Year. Wilson has recorded several solo CDs and performed on CDs by the Peter Pupping Band.

Pupping has been teaching and performing in Southern California for more than 30 years. His band, the Peter Pupping Band, has released several CDs. The latest, entitled Café Pacifico, combines a variety of music including Nuevo Flamenco, Cuban, West African, Nuevo Tango, Bossa Nova, Samba and Latin Smooth Jazz. Pupping earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from San Diego State University. He and Wilson organize and direct the Encinitas Guitar Orchestra twice each year.
