The music of John Denver to be featured on debut radio show

John Denver's legacy and impact will be explored on the premiere of a new radio program, "Friday Night Live."

CARY, Ill. - April 24, 2013 - PRLog -- John Denver was a ubiquitous voice during the 1970s.  Bruce David Janu, founder of the internet radio station Vinyl Voyage Radio, will honor the memory of John Denver and his music on the premiere episode of “Friday Night Live” on April 26.

“I grew up on John Denver,” says Janu.  “My parents had all of his albums which they played all the time.  We went to the drive-in to see ‘Oh, God.’  I can even sing most of his songs.”

Although many see Denver’s music as sappy, Janu recognizes the tremendous effect he had on popular music.  Recently, ATO Records released “The Music is You:  A Tribute to John Denver,” which features modern interpretations of Denver’s music done by some cutting-edge artists.  Dave Matthews, My Morning Jacket, Train and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes are featured on the album, opening up these songs to a new generation of listeners.

The premiere episode of Friday Night Live will feature selections from that album and other songs by the late artist.  In addition, Janu will give away a free download of “The Music is You.”

“’Friday Night Live” is a show dedicated to music,” explains Janu.  “And what better musician and songwriter to kick off a show about music than John Denver?”

“Friday Night Live” can be heard on Vinyl Voyage Radio, which streams via the Live365 radio network.
