Sprout Watch Open Volleyball Tournament coming to Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - April 23, 2013 - PRLog -- The Rider Sandal Big Shot Volleyball Series, presented in Hilton Head by Sprout Watches, will return to Hilton Head on May 4-5. Teams from throughout the East Coast will compete as they warm up for the 2013 summer season. Top male and female doubles teams will compete for $2,000 cash prizes plus a trip to the $8,000 Big Shot Championships September 7-8 at Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. Tournament play will start at 9 am with women’s finals scheduled for 6 pm Saturday and men’s finals 12 noon on Sunday.. Admission is free for all spectators.

The tournaments are sanctioned by Volley America, the largest grass roots program in the US. Volley America offers tournaments, clinics and leagues creating opportunities for players of all levels to improve their game. The players in the Sprout Watches Hilton Head event will earn seeding points for the SE Volley America Regionals to be held in Myrtle Beach October 5-6.

Top S. Carolina players expected to play in the Hilton Head tournament include Jake Elliott in the Men’s Division and his wife Adria Elliott in the Women’s Division.  Both have played on the Pro Beach Volleyball Tour and are expected to have the inside track to win the trip to Atlantic City. Additional top players expected to compete include Florida players JD Christie (Tampa) and Kent Ammons (Jacksonville). Additional top female players include Laura Togami (Charleston, SC)

Separate divisions will be held for players of intermediate and novice levels on Saturday and Sunday. The $60 entry fee entitles players to a full day of tournament play, an official Sprout Watch Big Shot Volleyball t-shirt, and a chance to win merchandise prizes from tournament sponsors 4C Totally light 2Go, Reflekt Polarized sunglasses, Spalding, ZEMgear, SOB Vacations, Rider Sandals, Park & Sun net systems, Dig Magazine, and Rox Volleyball. The public can met the players every Saturday evening at the official Player’s Party at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront’s Tiki Bar.
