15 College-Bound Students to Receive Scholarships at Largest Asian American Procurement Conference

Fifteen college scholarships will be awarded to students selected from over 3,500 applications nationwide, for having excelled in school, shown leadership qualities, performed community service and demonstrated financial need.

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, D.C. - April 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Washington, DC — Fifteen college scholarships will be awarded to students selected from over 3,500 applications nationwide, for having excelled in school, shown leadership qualities, performed community service and demonstrated financial need.

The scholarships are funded by Asian Americans and Corporations under the aegis of the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation (USPAACC).

Since 1989, through the generosity of Asian American and corporation sponsors, USPAACC has provided annual financial assistance totaling over $1 million to outstanding Asian American high school seniors heading toward college.

The scholarship recipients will be flown in to a special luncheon in their honor during the 28th Anniversary CelebrAsian Business Opportunity Conference 2013, June 3-5 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Garden Grove, California.

Scholarship sponsors are AT&T, The estate of Bruce Lee, Denny's, Enterprise Holdings, ExxonMobil; National Capitol Contracting, PEMCO, Drs. Poh Shien and Judy Young, Southern California Edison, Target, TEOCO, and two scholarships each from PepsiCo Foundation and UPS.

Scholarship Selection Committee members are: Anthony Yu, Embassy Travel (Chair); Leo Lawless, B Cube Ltd; Kurt Nguyen, QNexis; Aline Presley, Exxon Mobil Corporation; Ann Ramakumaran, Ampcus; Annette Stevenson, SAS Institute; JP Torres, Atelier Media Group; Aloysius Yoon, Lattice Group; and Anna Zawacki, USPAACC Education Foundation.

CelebrAsian—the oldest and largest Asian American Procurement Conference in the United States—connects hundreds of top-caliber Asian American suppliers and small business owners annually with buyers from Fortune 1000 corporations, the Federal, State and Local government, and the small/minority business community. Pre-scheduled one-on-one business matchmaking meetings, contracting summits, best practice workshops, and networking sessions have been the hallmark of the Conference.
