South Florida Used Car Shoppers Keep An Eye Out For Fuel-Efficient Luxury Cars

When it comes to shopping for a luxury brand vehicle, fuel-efficiency isn’t normally a crucial concern. However, there are a number of luxury brands that have been able to produce some fuel-efficient luxury models.

DANIA BEACH, Fla. - April 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Luxury automotive brands like Mercedes-Benz and BMW are well known for their vehicle’s performance, not so much for their fuel-efficiency. However, luxury brands have managed to produce a number of fuel-efficient models over the years.

As your leading South Florida used car dealer specializing in luxury brand vehicles, The Taverna Collection is thrilled to share with their customers a Top 10 List of the most fuel-efficient luxury models available. From long-time fan favorites like BMW and Mercedes-Benz to new up-and-comers like Elon Musk’s Tesla Motors electric vehicles, the luxury car segment of the automotive industry is making strides towards improving efficiency without effecting performance.

Tied at 10th place, South Florida used car shoppers will find the BMW 3-Series Hybrid, the Mercedes-Benz E400 Hybrid, the Infiniti M35h, and the Buick LaCrosse/Regal eAssist all with an average fuel-economy of 29-mpg, with the Infiniti, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz vehicles still clocking in at over 300-hp. In 9th place, crossover SUV shoppers will find the luxurious Lexus RX450h gas-electric hybrid with a combined fuel-efficiency of 30-mpg and a powertrain rated at 295-hp.

Luxury Brands Are Changing The Game With Fuel-Economy Upgrades

Lexus was able to scoop 8th place as well with the GS450h sport sedan, utilizing the same powertrain as the RX450h but coming in with an enhanced 338-hp and 31-mpg. Audi is up next with its clean-diesel As TDI equipped with a modest 2.0L turbocharged engine rated at 140-hp and 236 lb-ft of torque and a gas-mileage of 34-mph combined.

While the series as a whole hasn’t been too great of a success, Acura’s ILX Hybrid has managed an impressive blend of fuel-economy, at 38-mpg, and premium features, landing it a solid 6th place spot. Lexus, dominating the list so far took both 5th and 4th places with its 40-mpg ES300h hybrid and 42-mpg CT200h hatchback hybrid model, respectively.

The top three slots might be a bit of a surprise to some, with the Lincoln MKZ taking 3rd at 45-mpg, the flashy and quite expensive mostly-electric Fisker Karma, rated at 52-MPGe, and the all-new Tesla Model S taking home the gold at a whopping 89-95-MPGe. It wasn’t Tesla’s fuel (or lack there of) efficiency, but also it’s impressive level of performance, capable of going from 0-60 in 5.6 seconds, and an unprecedented level of comfort and convenience found in the cabin.
